Whew!

Things have been pretty rough around here. We've just been going through the routines of the day and not much else. It's still stressful around here, but I'm starting to feel a little bit more "awake". I saw a psychiatrist for the first time ever on Monday and he put me on this new antidepressant. It seems to be working.

Both the psychiatrist and the psychologist want me to go on disability. It's hoped that this will help to reduce some stress and give me some time to focus on being healthy and thus be more able to help and support Ian. I've been a little resistant to the idea. Thinking back over the last few months and how stressful it has been for all of us, I've been reconsidering.

Ian's pediatrician and I have been talking about sending him to Stanford Medical center. Stanford has a reputation for being able to figure out complex cases and several people have recommended that we go there. I talked to Ian's pediatrician last night and he wants us to go ahead and go there. He also wants them to see him right away. He doesn't want to wait until the beginning of the year. I'm in agreement. This has gone on way too long, what with all the guessing between the doctors and all the frustration.

This is another reason I've been considering going on disability. There will be a lot of trips over to Stanford and I know this will be stressful for Ian as well as for us. I did talk to the head of my school where I work. She said she had wondered if this might happen. She knows how stressful it has been. We've had many conversations in the past about how Ian was doing. She didn't know much of the details, but I filled most of it in for her. She's going to work on finding a sub to replace me until I can come back. She has been very understanding as have most of the staff there. I work for a truly wonderful school and I'm glad to be a part of it.

Please keep us in your prayers and especially pray for Ian.

I'm so glad to hear that you will be going on leave. I think it will be good for everyone.

You've never left my thoughts or prayers. Sending hugs your way.
